Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 3, 2026
This policy explains what LegitRate.com does and does not collect, how information moves when you leave this site, and the choices you have. It applies only to the pages served at legitrate.com.
We do not collect personal information on this website. LegitRate.com has no quote form, no contact form, and no phone number. Every button on this site sends you to a quote form hosted and operated by a separate company. Any name, address, phone number, date of birth, vehicle, property or driver information you enter is collected by that company under its privacy policy and terms — not ours. Read those documents before you submit anything.
1. Who we are
LegitRate.com is operated by Legit Rate, of 3400 Cottage Way, Ste G2 #31001, Sacramento, CA 95825. In this policy, “we,” “us” and “LegitRate” mean that company.
LegitRate.com is not an insurance company, agency, or broker. We are an advertising and referral service. We do not sell insurance, do not issue policies, do not bind coverage, and are not affiliated with any insurance carrier.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers legitrate.com and its subpages. It does not cover:
- The quote forms at auto.legitrate.com and home.legitrate.com, which are hosted and operated by a third-party partner under its own privacy policy;
- Any insurance company, agency, agent, comparison network or marketing partner that receives your information after you submit that form;
- Any other website you reach from a link on this site.
Once you leave legitrate.com, the receiving company’s policy governs. We have no control over what it collects, how long it keeps it, or who it shares it with.
3. Information we collect on this site
Because there is no form on legitrate.com, we do not ask you for and do not receive your name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, Social Security number, driver’s licence number, vehicle information or property information on this site.
We do collect limited technical and analytics information automatically when you load a page:
- IP address, approximate region derived from it, and browser and device type;
- Pages viewed, time on page, scroll depth, and which buttons you click;
- The referring website or advertisement that sent you here, including any campaign tracking parameters in the URL;
- Cookie and similar identifiers set by the tools listed in section 6.
4. Tracking parameters we pass along
If you arrive from an advertisement, the link may carry tracking codes (for example sub1 through sub5 and a transaction identifier). When you click through to a quote form, we append those same codes to the destination link so the partner can attribute the referral and pay us. These codes identify the advertising campaign. We do not add your name, contact details or any other personal information to them.
5. How information is used and shared
We use the analytics information above to measure which pages and advertisements work, to detect fraudulent or automated traffic, and to improve the site. We share it with:
- Analytics and tag management providers that operate the tools in section 6;
- Advertising partners and networks that sent you here, for conversion measurement and billing;
- Our hosting provider, which processes server logs;
- Law enforcement or other parties where required by law, subpoena or court order, or to investigate suspected fraud or a violation of our terms;
- A successor entity if the business or its assets are sold or merged.
We do not sell the analytics information collected on this site. Note that our business model is referral compensation: when you submit the third-party quote form, that company shares your information with insurance carriers, agents and marketing partners, and we are paid for the referral. Under California law that downstream activity may be treated as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. See section 8.
6. Cookies, tags and analytics
We load Google Tag Manager (container GTM-W93635KC) on every page. Tag Manager is a container: on its own it collects nothing and sets no advertising cookies. At the date at the top of this page no measurement or advertising tags are configured inside it, so no analytics or advertising identifiers are being set through it.
When we add tags — for example web analytics, or conversion measurement for an advertising platform — we will name them here and update section 5 and the Do Not Sell or Share page before those tags go live.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Parts of the site may not function normally if you do. Most browsers also support a Global Privacy Control signal; we honour GPC as a valid opt-out request where applicable law requires it.
7. Do Not Call and marketing calls
We do not make outbound sales calls and we do not send marketing emails or text messages from this site. If you submitted the third-party quote form, you agreed to that company’s consent language, which may permit calls or texts from it and from insurance companies and agents — including automated calls — even if your number is on the National Do Not Call Registry.
To stop those contacts, ask the company that called you directly, or use our unsubscribe page and we will pass the request to our partner. Your request is acknowledged automatically by email and then processed within the period the law requires. We cannot opt you out of a carrier or agent we have no relationship with.
8. California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the CCPA as amended by the CPRA gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources, the purposes, and the categories of third parties we disclosed it to;
- Delete personal information we hold, subject to legal exceptions;
- Correct inaccurate personal information;
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, and of targeted advertising — use Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information;
- Limit the use of sensitive personal information;
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights. We do not offer financial incentives tied to your data.
You may use an authorised agent to submit a request; we will ask for proof of authorisation. Because we operate exclusively online and hold no account with you, we verify requests against the information you supply and the identifiers in our logs. If we cannot verify a request we will tell you why.
Shine the Light. California Civil Code § 1798.83 lets California residents request details of personal information shared with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Send that request to the address in section 14.
9. Other state privacy rights
Residents of states with comprehensive privacy laws — including Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon and Montana — have similar rights to access, correct, delete and port personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising and sale. Use the same request routes in section 14. Where the law provides an appeal, you may appeal a denial by replying to our decision; we will respond within the statutory period.
10. Retention
We do not operate our own analytics database. The standard server logs generated when you load a page are held by our hosting provider under its own retention schedule and are not retained by us separately. If we add analytics tools that store records under our control, we will state the retention period here before doing so.
We keep records of privacy requests, and of our response to them, for as long as the law requires us to document that we handled the request.
11. Security
The site is served over HTTPS and we use commercially reasonable safeguards for the limited information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children
This site is intended for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and the site is not directed to them. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The “last updated” date at the top will change, and the revised version applies from the date it is posted. Material changes will be flagged on this page.
